Classification of Hex Bolts
Hex Bolts are divided into outer hexagonal bolts and inner hexagonal bolts.
According to the force mode of connection, there are ordinary and hinged holes. The bolts used for hinged holes should match the size of holes. They should be used when subjected to transverse force. The countersunk heads with hexagonal head, round head, square head, countersunk head, etc. are generally used in the places where smooth and protruding surface is required after connection, because the countersunk heads can be screwed into parts. The round head can also be screwed into parts. The tightening force of the square head can be used. It’s bigger, but it’s larger. Hexagonal heads are the most commonly used.
In addition, in order to meet the need of locking after installation, there are holes in the head and in the rod. These holes can keep the bolt from loosening when it is vibrated.
Hex Bolts
Hex head screw Hex cap screw and hex bolt Hex bolt, as the name implies, are external thread fasteners with hexagonal head. They are designed to rotate with wrenches. According to ASME B18.2.1 standard, hexagonal head bolt (Hex cap screw) has less tolerance of head height and rod length than general hex bolt. Therefore, ASME B18.2.1 hexagonal bolt is suitable for installing where all hexagonal bolts can be used, and also includes places where large hexagonal bolts are too big to be used.
